FRP gelcoat panels are composite panels made from a fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) base material, consisting of a composite of glass fiber and other reinforcing materials with a resin matrix. A specially formulated gelcoat resin is pre-coated and cured.
The gelcoat layer is a key component, typically composed of a mixture of unsaturated polyester gelcoat resin, pigments, and additives. It is evenly applied to the FRP base surface, typically with a thickness of 0.2-0.5 mm. This gelcoat not only imparts an aesthetically pleasing appearance and rich colors to the panel, but more importantly, provides additional protection for the base material, enhancing the panel's resistance to weathering, corrosion, wear, and aging, thereby extending its service life.
